After a decade of navigating the financial waters for others, I founded 1035 Capital in late 2019 with a simple mission: to democratize institutional-level small and micro-cap research for all investors. Most people experience with the stock market is through the S&P 500 or similar large cap investment vehicles. And for many, that makes sense.
Let's face it – when most people think of the stock market, they picture the towering giants of the S&P 500. And don't get me wrong, those blue-chip behemoths have their place. But what about the countless companies flying under the radar? Many dismiss them without a second glance, but here's the thing: every S&P 500 giant was once a scrappy little contender clawing its way up the ranks.
Among these smaller public companies lie hidden gems, waiting to be discovered. Some might just be the next household name, destined for the ranks of the S&P 500. Others will end up in a lucrative buyout by one of the big players.
When I set out on my own with 1035 Capital, I quickly realized the challenges of obtaining quality data, especially for small and micro-cap stocks. But instead of throwing in the towel, I rolled up my sleeves and did what any true millennial would do: I started automating.
The result? A weekly Small Cap Report born out of sheer passion and a relentless pursuit to not be limited by data access. Originally shared with friends, it garnered such interest that I couldn't keep it under wraps any longer (but it is still a work in progress). So, I've decided to share it with all subscribers, because…well…I can.
One major issue with small-cap sector and industry research is the frequent misclassification of companies. We have dedicated countless hours to thoroughly analyzing the small-cap space and creating our own industry groups that more accurately reflect what these companies actually do. This allows us to track where money is moving and compare companies more effectively.
